Organizing and Chairing a Meeting

In English class, I were asked to chair a meeting.
My meeting concerned the ‘Protesting prosthesis’ company about anything but sportive aspects for a sportive event they wanted to held.
Was voted during the meeting :
•       what kind of people the event target (engineering students)
•       what kind of people will be invited for free (handisportives and innovative engineers)
•       how to advertise the event (Facebook event, posters in engineering schools, bulk mails)
•       which sponsors and partnerships to solicit (caterer, service provider of photos/videos)

Taking Meeting Minutes

After chairing a meeting, I learned how to organize and write meeting minutes.

On 11/15/19 I was a minutes-taker for the ‘Protesting prosthesis’ company’s sportive event meeting which was chaired by Theodore Nakache.

Having a Telephone Interview

On 11/8/19 I was asked to go for a telephone interview in order to be prepared for professional face-to-face, video call and telephone interviews.

Writing a CV

In Semester One, I created my English CV thanks to my teacher feedbacks and personal re-assessments.

Writing a reflection on Civic Engagement

Leading this project helped to put forward some of my strengths and weaknesses.

  • I and Benoit knew at the very beginning what we wanted to say in the oral presentation, thanks to this it was easier for us to divide what remained to say between the other members. I wanted to present the project in its entirety. Taking initiatives was one of our greatest strengths.

  • At the start of the project, I’m the one who gathered the information about what we were asked to do for our civic engagement on Moodle, sorted it and conveyed it. My synthesis capability is then one of my strength.

  • During the whole project, I was very active in the team conversation and I encouraged members of our team to work. However I have to admit that I wasn’t really convincing because some of them weren’t reactive, I didn’t manage to catch their attention and I was scared they wouldn’t do anything. Although this, I overcome this situation by giving them more advice and at the end everything was ready on time. My inabilities to catch attention and to convince are of course weaknesses.

  • Unfortunately, even if the actual situation due to Corona Virus isn’t our fault, we didn’t prepare soon enough everything; had we work enough before, we wouldn’t have to do everything remotely what was more difficult and can explain why not everybody was motivated. This lack of early organization represents the worst weakness we had as a team.

  • Moreover, the current situation forced us to find a new way to communicate and to keep in touch: we choose to talk together on FaceBook Messenger and we quick adapted to it. A strength of ours was obviously our ability to adapt to various tools and situations.

  • I’m comfortable with English so it wasn’t too hard for me to prepare the poster and the oral presentation; this remains an important strength, particularly in the world of work.

  • I invested myself a lot in the poster creation: I offered the team a few templates, designed the poster and wrote half of it while taking their will into consideration. This shows that my important commitment is a strength.

In a nutshell, I still need to continue to develop those strengths and to improve those weaknesses. As a team member and also from a personal point of view, I have to anticipate more in order to not let preventable and prejudicial situations occur. My English level can still be improved, for example by using Duolingo App. Last but not least, I can improve my investment by helping more others.
